Vacuum can be used to transfer liquids, powders and pellets. In the plastic extrusion industry pellets are fed up to hoppers before being heated into the machines. Many plants use side channel units or Piovan type fans to do this. As it is an intermittent application we would suggest a transfer venturi pump run on compressed air. It will never break down or give problems. These vacuum units can also be used to feed hoppers with other materials such as ball bearings, bottle caps, regrind from the plastics extrusion industry.

Transfer of liquids.
Liquids by their nature are easy to transfer using vacuum (just like sucking coke through a straw). We can supply systems for removing sewage from trains, boats or simply emptying the old oil from machines. Vacuum is particularly cost effective when one needs to run pipes while maintaining a natural fall, with vacuum you can such right over obstacles and save in excavation costs. Vacuum pumps may also be used to prime Standard liquid pumps where the liquid is lower than the level of the pump. Usually the best types of vacuum pumps for these applications are venturi vacuum pumps or liquid ring vacuum pumps. Where materials are highly corrosive there are often problems with pumps, with vacuum the material does not go through the pump.
